My talented graphic designer sister Abby Luke turned my sunflower drawing into a serious graphic. She described her process to me and it went a little like this: first she changed the contrast in Photoshop by manipulating the lines. Then she switched programs to Illustrator, vectorized the design (I’m bribing her with food to get her to show me what the hell this means) and simplified the lines and shapes. Color came last, changing the design to a brown and adding a soft cocoa to the center and a mustard to the petals.
Curious to see where we take this next? This time it’s my turn to manipulate the design and add complexity to the typeface we intend to put over the flower. Stay tuned.
