The garden has been pretty happy and productive since May! I'm harvesting cucumbers and carrots this week, and watching the new batch of strawberries roll in. I also discovered free sawhorses in my neighborhood and snagged them for my new seeds and 'starts' table.
My hyssop, bee balm, and sunflowers have brought in loads of native bees and birds: male goldfinches and ruby-throated hummingbirds. It's rewarding to see everyone busy in the garden when I walk, wander, or run past. Despite all my milkweed plants, I haven't seen a monarch caterpillar, chrysalis, nor butterfly. Occasionally, I'll find a stray cat asleep in the catnip, which was exactly why I planted it.
Newly thriving: ice cream watermelon, cantaloupe, and zucchini.
