This national nonprofit works with young people in 5 cities across the US through “mentoring and transformative experiences”. Summer Search offers its participants several years worth of experiences, including summer adventure travel, career and college advising and support, and in-depth networking. As the national marketing and communications department’s graphic designer and marketing specialist, I tackle design and occasionally copywriting, across a multitude of projects including both print and digital design: annual reports and fundraising presentation materials, merchandise design, invitation suites, brochures and 1-pagers, and social media and newsletter graphics.

This fundraising campaign for Summer Search explores the how its programing effectively works with students and alumni to “build confidence, break through systemic barriers, and win economic equality.” This campaign hands “the mic” to participants, who speak for themselves about their struggles and successes in life and within the Summer Search programs.

My work for No Ceilings included brand development and strategy, logo design, illustrations and a t-shirt. The logo, drawn from this spontaneous hiking photo, depicts triumph and success amidst a journey, in simple readable terms.

case for support, annual report

As a member of the Marketing and Communication department, I help a little with brainstorming direction and strategy, but mostly I am the designer, turning information into functional and attractive documents and graphics. Nonprofits produce presentations, cases for support, annual reports, and other digital and print materials on an annual basis to inform and reach out to participants and donors alike. Some of my work involves brushing up old designs while staying within branding guidelines.

With thriving alumni and student communities across five cities, a social media networking (called Summer Search CONNECT), newsletters and social media, and gala fundraisers, Summer Search requires interesting and communicative banners and graphics to grab attention and inform their audiences!
